About Jan ~

Born in Akron, Ohio, Jan made her way to California and finally to a beautiful rural community just north of Scottsdale, Arizona, where her home overlooks the head waters of the Verde River. Along the way, she married Ghent and raised six daughters.

She is a self-taught artist, beginning at age six. By the time she was in high school, Jan was winning awards with her paintings of Yosemite National Park. A very versatile and creative woman, Jan has taught painting. She also knits, crochets, and quilts exquisite bedspreads. Jan Holman

After raising her children, she dedicated herself to painting seriously again in 1990, and it consumes her days. Jan's favorite medium is oils, and she loves to paint anything and everything, especially children and animals. Florals (and certainly roses) are also a passion. A further example of her versatility is the fact that she has been commissioned to paint murals in private homes. Jan's forte is painting animals and she often places them in the beautiful landscapes that surround her home. She has also found a new passion and inspiration...the Harley Davidson, which she paints and tours on with her husband.

Jan's art is in collections across the country. Her work is currently shown at Sandy by the Sea in Carmel, CA and in local businesses in Chino Valley, Arizona. She has begun to explore other avenues of promoting her artwork, including the Internet.

Jan has been honored to be juried into the Oil Painters of America and is a member of the SWAA Southwest Artist Guild.

Jan's art is also on display at the Gallery of Green Resort in St. George, Utah. She was recently accepted into the prestigious Amsterdam Whitney Gallery in New York. She will be featured in an exhibit, May & June 2008.
